Biography
Kay was born and bred in Natal. She has a degree in Accounting and until recently had built a career in the financial world. In 2013, she bid the corporate world farewell in order to spend more time following her dream of working with animals.
Kay grew up in an environment where a variety of pets were an integral part of the household and has had an ever-increasing desire to work with animals.
Her love for animals has surely been inherited from her Dad’s side of the family. Her grandparents were involved with conservation in Zululand and their home was always full of rescue animals, from tortoises to genet cats, birds and buck. These were aside from the Racing pigeons, Tropical fish, a large selection of local wild birds, Siamese cats, and of course, the family dogs.
Kay has trained her own dogs in basic and advanced obedience. It was the typically independent and stubborn nature of her male Chow Chow, Nugget, that made her realise that there must be an easier, gentler way of getting the desired behaviors from a dog without using the choke chain. That was when she discovered TTOUCH …she hasn’t looked back since!
Kay also spent 2 years working with rescue animals at the Sandton SPCA on a volunteer basis.
Kay and Niki Elliott have been working together for the past 10 years operating the very successful Puppies in Balance puppy and dog training school. The school offers puppy socialization, adult dog training and fun agility for all breeds.
“TTOUCH has taught me that the best results are obtained from an animal through patience, understanding and a mutual respect for one another.”
